Skills Canada Saskatchewan announces 4 medallions of Excellence for Saskatchewan at World Skills Abu Dhabi 2017:
The World Skills Abu Dhabi Skills Competition has now come to and end. 1500 competitors from 58 Country’s from around the World came together on Oct. 15-19, 2017 to compete in 54 different skilled trade and technology areas. Saskatchewan had 5 competitors in 4 competition areas participating on Team Canada. These competitors were competing for 4 days, showcasing their incredible skills and abilities.
Team Canada received 1 Bronze medal in Mechatronics and 13 Medallions of Excellence. Saskatchewan’s 5 competitors received 4 of these medallions. The break down is as follows:
Jun Zheng – Web Design – Medallion of Excellence – 10th overall placement – Mount Royal Collegiate
Kyla Henry – Graphic Design – Medallion of Excellence – 7th overall – Sask. Polytechnic – Regina
Brock Chiasson/ Shaun Furber – Mobile Robotics - Medallion of Excellence – 7th overall – Yorkton Regional High School
Daniel Nelson – Electrical Wiring – 21st overall – Sask. Polytechnic – Regina
Skills Saskatchewan is very proud of these 5 young adults who worked tirelessly for over a year preparing, studying, and developing the skills required to compete at the World Skills level.
